What is Mobile Traffic?

In 2009, VicRoads approached SitePoint to design and develop two new web initiatives, Mobile Traffic & Live Traffic.

The main objective of the mobile website was to provide a solution for users to access real time travel times and CCTV images via a range of hand held devices. The live traffic website was to allow users on a desktop computer to access real time CCTV images of traffic cameras around Victoria.

The SitePoint Solution

A custom solution was developed for both versions of the site (Mobile & Live Traffic). The mobile version of the site was developed to accommodate multiple screen sizes and was thoroughly tested on over 250 phone emulators to ensure consistency across different makes and models of cellphones available today.

The live traffic site securely connects to the VicRoads CCTV servers and processes the traffic information and picture data to allow you to check the roads before you travel!
